Replacement Plastic

I want to replace the plastic on my 08 KX 450.

I wanted to ask anyone if they have had good or bad luck with the aftermarket kits, or should I stick with the stock stuff? I don't trust the reviews on the E-tailer's, some people say the aftermarket stuff is great, others say it's junk?

Back in the day it seemed like I would always buy Acerbis, and it was good, but it has been years since I have bought any.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to replace the rear fender, front fender, side panels, and front number plate.

Thanks,

Aaron

I've used both Acerbis and UFO, with a misc. fender from Cycra. So far I think the Acerbis has fit the best, as well as having the color match the stock.

Just my take.

I don't remember if Acerbis includes the metal collars on the side panels..but UFO gives u new ones which is cool. I just now put a white kit on the YZ and everything matched up perfectly..They probably all are good now..pick the pricepoint and run with it...

I think they are all good but Kimballs got a point on the UFO (i believe)... It's sad to say but I've been through my fair share of plastics... I've been runnin the Cyrca stuff lately, $10 more than UFO or Acerbis complete kits and you get the cool powerflow stuff that makes your bike look WAY faster!!! Eek motosports where I've got it for a good price ($119 vs 109) for a complete kit.
Couple caveats for the Cyrca though... 1. may shatter when your buddy runs over your rear fender or if you're at a bach party when you highside (not sure if 20deg weather had anything to do with it...) 2. you gotta get creative with scissors for a rear fender graphic...

I'd run them again though. Big Grin

I don't think Cycra makes plastic for the KX! Everywhere I see it they only have the Yamy, Hon, and Suz. Am I missing something?

Motosport has everything but the side panels... wierd though, cause you can by the complete kits for the other bikes ($119)

I dont know if its the same way for Kawasakis but Yamaha stock plastic is the same price as the UFO, Acerbis stuff. But you can also buy those One industries kits with graphics and plastic all in one. I dont know how much you save but kinda cool.

I have UFO plastic on my bike and Ill never buy it again.

Its just too soft, anything that hits it, knicks it. My plastic looked good for about 3 rides and thats it.

Im going to go with acerbis this year and see how that works out.

Hey, thanks everyone for the advice. I couldn't figure out what to try so went with Polisport numberplate and rear fender. Looks exact, the plate fit perfectly, havent had a chance to replace the fender yet as work has been brutal this week.

Thanks again for your .02 though.

The fender looks identical to the stocker, color match is uncanny. But boy oh boy its lite, and flexible too. Not sure if thats because the stocker is 2 years old and hardened up, or the new on is just that much lighter, thinner, and cheaper. Im sure its the latter.

Sport'n black wheels and forks, EVO Suspension and what looks like Bridgestone 604s to boot.

That Aaron dude must-be-a-pro! cause only a real-pro would place under such a magnificent steed a milk box stand.

Love the addition of 1/2" spacer plywood. The 250F that sets in my garage is still lacking such lofty heights and turns like crap when I go down for a ghost ride. Maybe Teds got a steering damper I can attach to ease the tension of tires dragging on the ground.

Wonder?

Ken, you nailed the milk crate, but not the tires.

Nothing but Michelins grace my green wonder machine. Oh yeah, and you're off on the pro thing too. I need to get some new EVO stickers with all my new stuff, but probably will just wait 4 more hours till he does the ole service.

Nice lookin bike! The stand is sic! Ive had a couple stands just like it they both lasted like prolly ten years each and when the top blows out I did the old plywood freshen up
lift-kit also.. when i would forget it at the track no worrys it would still be there the next time. Now I got one of those fancy stands..

Thats pretty funny, I never thought of it that way. A stand so ugly, that when you accidently leave it at the track, it is right there the next time!

That one is brand new, I went riding at Oakwood not too long ago, and realized that I left my tailgate down, about 50 miles later. My bag, toolbox, and chair were still there. Maybe someone saw the milk crate and took it? Probably just fell out though. I had that one for like 15 years!
