Don't you wish it was still open right now?
It was air conditioned and heated in there! The Asian Sensation |

best place ever. Well maybe not but I loved it. I used to ride down there with Aaron sometimes three times a week. :-( You just about never had to clean your air filter either.

God I miss that place. When I sold my 05 CRF, the guy thought it had never been ridden. (just about 300 hours at RMC.)

Ya its sad. You know a lot of places like Jollys and such people take for granted until they are gone. But I dont really think that was the case there. I mean it was close, indoors had heat and good lights. All it needed was better dirt which you can officially thank Mickey Fay for. I miss that place bad, it would be awesome to be able to ride somewhere indoors and not have to drive so far to be able to do it.

I too loved that place for all the afore mentioned reasons cept one. It was in my hood. My office (office-space) is just a couple of miles from RMC and so back-in-the-day I'd head on down for a greasy Burger and Fries and watch the likes of Crater and Thomas and Osaka and yes even our own Alaska native Jerry Lymburner pounding out laps and looking sweet. Dang do I miss those days.
But ya know what really FREAKS ME OUT! is that freak'n Harley shop setting 40' out side of RMC. It don't hold a candle to real MX men-and-women and yet there it sets. You wanna know Harley then you better be talk'n FLATHEAD,TANK-SHIFT'N, and FOOT CLUTCH'N. If ya can't talk that smak then maybe if Toothless Freaky-Fready (Hells Angles SoCal) say's yer ok I'll believe. Until then I begrudge the day RMC shut down MX for HD. The peeps sucked up "Downtown Harley Davidson" at that! ARGH!!!! I know that Carmine Tom opened Downtown Harley and that Russ (rest-in-peace) was the fav son but Eugene was my bud (second son of Carmine) and we put in plenty of NW laps together on MX tracks. Truth-be-told Gene advised his dad to go HD. Russ said Yamaha. Gene's ok in my book. Besides Gene managed to make it down south (Carlsbad 1970's) in MX where I didn't and he came back with some good blue-groove-stories (ahhh-the-sweet-smell-of-MX) about Carlsbad and Shagri-La and and and and. Come on! we all know MX is one-part-skill-one-part-desire-and-one-part-BULL! Do I miss RMC? ... YOU BET I DO! Do I despise HD - yep. So before anybody writes back about HD and how magnificent the brand is talk please to Freaky Fready. Better yet talk to me I got WWII and Vespa and South Sea Pacific stories my pop passed on I've yet to share. Go ahead and ask...just not today (grins). This message has been edited. I like to claim the honor of being there on day one, and on last day. I loved being an RMC Motocross professional practicer.
Mike, Josh, and I, along with my bro-in-law Josh all bought bikes down there, along with all of our parts and supplies. The only reason was that we were down there riding 2 or 3 times a week. Were all way north enders. I have not been in there but maybe two or three times since. What a shame. |

I have alot of memories from RMC. Some good some not so good....but mostly good. I got to put in alot of laps with my bud KW at that place. Its where myself and KW got to teach my son to ride and now it looks like it wont be long until he is showing us how to ride. It brought us all together to enjoy our sport. I miss it and all the fun times!

Same here Vern cept his last tip to me was at Ward Creek (circa 1987 something) when he parked me in the trees on the uphill after the "over-the-hill" leap. It was good then and even today every time I go by that spot (dang tree) I hark-en back (flash-backs-argh!) and grin. No Death-No-Broken-Bones just dust and bent bikes. Don't tell Gene though I'd hate for him to realize that after 20-30 years he got the best of me. Last place I ever saw "Gene" was at RMC and for that I am truly grateful. I think I need to look him up (remembrances, smiles, good days, and happy ones). MX'n in the DeCoster era Gene and Me. Pretty darn good. |

I remember going to RMC every day they were open on the weekdays. Remember twofer tuesdays? Little Charlie was on 85's and was in a private school that allowed for us to catch all their practices during the week. I worked weekends at the time so it worked out perfect for us. The resteraunt upstairs overlooking the track, parts on the other side of the wall, bathroom, showers, and locker room upstairs. Who could ask for more. I remember a time when we had MXGP in Monroe, Dairyland MX in Snohomish, RMC in Renton, Motoplex indoor arena in Smokey Point, Pacific Raceways in Kent, and Hindsight MX in North Plains Or. Within 6 years all of those tracks are gone. I am ready to move to Eastern Wa buy some property and build my own track. The only tracks locally to ride anymore are private tracks and ya gotta know people to ride them. I miss the good ol days of 6 years ago.

Thanks Aaron I've had a couple of those Concussions Yes Jim he used to love to mess with the faster guys because he knew they were all wound up.One night he he points to Robert and where all these little $#%@%$% come from. I told him you were good kid and didn't mean to run over his foot.
Jim was an SMC memeber when I joined in 74 he was a good flat tracker. Man I miss all those places. And my 20 year old body too.See the doc about my knee this AM |
