Do you have any ideas?

So have you guys read that Oregon is going to be adding 10 percent Ethanol to the fuel and the gas stations no longer have to say ethanol added. This is going to rake havoc on are moto bikes Ethanol, loss of horse power and timing issues. I herd Bend oil still sells premium fuel with out Ethanol but you have to purchase at least 55 gallons. Any ideas, I get free avgas and I know you all know how much I hat running it but it might be the only alternative beside $90.00 for a 5 gallon can of VP fuel.

FYI, Av Gas contains lead your spendy four stroke motor is designd to run Unleaded.
Your SS or Ti valves will not like it.

Yes I know. I just did not know the worst case of either fuels. My 450 drinks the fuel. Do they make a kit that removes lead.

10% ethanol will not be noticed. In fact 10% can be beneficial as it oxygenates the fuel to an extent. I actaully look for stations that have the 10% ethenol and run that in my bike. Two strokes may have a more difficult time with it as it can seperate the oil and gas. You do not want to run avgas. Avgas may give you the octane but unless you are running 13:1 you don't need that. Avgas is designed to burn at 15,000 feet.

Stock 08 YZ250f is at 13.5:1 ratio and run fine on fresh 92 pump gas.

C-12 can be had for $50 for 5 gallons localy if you shop around. From the research i have done it's a good fuel for both 2 and 4 strokes, but i don't use it at indoor tracks.

What about NASCAR 110? There is a guy here that races outlaws and he owns a gas station and keeps 110 in the back.

Again, unless your bike is HIGHLY modified I wouldn't worry about gas.

The only reason to run race fuel is if you are knocking, with that said U-11 does make more HP in a four stroke but it is expensive and has some other issues like gelling up if you leave it for too long. Oh, the other reason is that it smells cool Big Grin

A buddy of mine was riding in front of me and I kept smelling Pina coladas I guess he purchased some kind of additive that makes the fuel smell. Weird. Big Grin

you guys are way off!!!!!!

FUEL MAKES HORSEPOWER!!

run u-4.2 straight...i'll guarentee you'll notice a difference.

you want lead...your valves will love it!!! it coats them and protects them.

the right fuel is good for 3.5-4.0 hp in a 250f...and greater in a 450. you cant do a single thing to anything on a bike that will see this kind of result....without reliability being sacrificed

I do not argue that fuel makes HP. His concern was that 10% ethanol would harm his motor. If you aren't after more HP then pump gas is fine.

Maybe I had the wrong number. Isn't that the name of the highly oxygenated new formula that smells real good? I believe it is illegal for AMA pro racing.

I'm old and slow. more HP is NOT what I need Big Grin

All I wanted is that crisp snap of power out of a stock 450. Looks like bolt ons and fuel might help, I do not care if I am fast just want to be able to hit that tripple right out of a 90.
