Just wanted to take this opportunity to point out the AMA National Champ is Australian... And with Reed Burner and Metcalf running in the Motocross of Nations they have a legit shot at winning that thing...Australian Team – 2009 Motocross of Nations:

MX1: Chad Reed
MX2: Michael Byrne
First Reserve: Daniel Reardon
Second Reserve: Jay Marmont

MX3: Brett Metcalfe
First Reserve: Matt Moss

If had to bet the farm on Dungey-Tedesco-Weimer or take Reed-Burner-Metcalf- I think the odds lean more towards the Australians to pay out$$$ Going all in on a aliitle bit of an underdog is always fun plus how could I bet against the USA anyways??? This is the closest I have ever seen it with these two teams..

On speed They said Chad Reed took insurance out on himself to win the outdoor championship 100% of what he was paid from Suzuki, I guess if he diddnt win he would not have gotten paid a cent how does that work and whats the difference between that and betting on yourself with a bookie? Pros legally betting on themselves?

Sounds like an NFL type not guaranteed contract. I think that more manufacturers should go to this more performance based contract stuff. Why do you think Mitch wins so much, all of his kids want to be there and he has said MANY times before he will not outbid someone for a rider. The rider wants to be there and will be paid well IF he performs!

I know everyone is biting their tounges, so I will say it...

***Chad Reed - 2009 National Champ

No - *Stewart, **Alessi, ***Villopoto.

I know, you gotta be in it to win it, but seriously...he would have been 4th place at best...

There shouldn't be any *** by his title. That is the whole point of a points championship...you need to be there the whole way.

Are you SURE Alessi would have beat him for the title? He is a little faster outdoors, but he doesn't exactly have a good history as a pro of closing the deal. It would not have suprised me one bit to see him on his head a couple of times. One or two DNF's and Reed would have been right there. Same for Stewart...just remember the year Langston won...Stewart couldn't stay upright enough to win.

I never want foriegn born riders to win our title, but Reed is very deserving this year and I will give him a ton of credit for coming back to the Nationals.

I think at the least if you want to put *** by Reeds title, then you should put *** by Stewarts title last year...after all...RC wasn't there.

RC retired, he wasn't an active rider like all the others...

I am not saying he doesn't deserve the title, ANYONE that wins a title is deserving.

Heck, the one I won this year I don't feel as if it was legit. My rival only raced the first 3 races in the series, which we swapped motos almost every race.

The years past, when he was in it, I felt complete when I won, not so when he is not there...

I hear ya'...

I just hate the *** thing. I remember when Ryan Hughes said Grant Langston should have an * by his title back in 02 or 03 because the Troy round go cancelled and Ryan Hughes "knew that he would have won" if they had raced there...

Also, Stewart must be wondering "what if"...his whole plan was to rack up wins for the cameras at the X-Games...didn't win the whip contest, crashed out of supermoto and never turned a wheel on the SX track...maybe racing outdoors isn't so bad...

I think I am just a bit bitter that we haven't had all the players healthy for an entire year or the "SX only crappola".

This year would have been amazing if all the riders were there.

Now the 250 class, whoever wins that puppy will be the champion in my book, no asteriks. The big hitters are there for the most part (even some from other countries).

If its Pourcel, than he deserved and earned it, no questions asked.

I don't even really care for him and would like to see Dungey win, but the guy will have really earned the championship with heavy competition.

I think next year "could" be fun in the 450 class...

Pourcel, Dungey, Villo, Alessi, Stewart, Reed, Grant...sounds like fun to me!

I like Pourcel, don't want him to win, but I like him. However, Hes a Freakin world champion. Dungey was an intermediate 3 years ago.

What amazes me is that New Zeland with a population of 6M or so is pumping out such high caliber riders. I'm setting up here in WA with it's 7m or so so and wondering why not us? Lately I don't ask myself that question cause for me the Pacific Northwest is.

Ryan Villopoto, Jake Weimer, Larry Ward and Rick Burgett. Many many NW riders have proven their worth and so over the last 20 years I'm starting to feel better about what we have to offer by way of MX, and never mind how them folks from Alaska manage to come down and show us all their increadable speed and then go back. Never mind all that. Dang!

For me the Pacific NW is the new hot bed of MX. Don't know about you bit for me ... I'm excited.
