He's not my favorite rider, but everyone hates to see something like that.

When I first saw it I thought the worst... Cause there was no information about his injuries, yet it seems he's alright.

Confirmed injuries: Broken ribs, fractured both scapulas, brused lungs, and internal bleeding.

He's most likely done for the year.

I spoke to Mike at PRO's Washougal round this year and found him to be an ok kinda guy. I know he's been take'n whacks cause of his whole "I'd like to thank my girlfriend.." podium thing but I met her and she seems pretty solid too, even with her black fingernails. Based on that day and that showing I put Mike at a national #5 for 2008 and Jeff around 15th so imagine my surprise when Mike's making #2 and Jeff's top ten. Imagine my surprise too at how well our own local riders fair against the caliber of the Alessi's. So this hurts but if Osaka627 is right then I'm glad he's ok and with what I'd call minimal injuries and ... if you look close (I think) you'll see he was knocked out cold coming over the hill - before he even touched the ground and before he was run over and over and over. Thank's be to god he's not hurt bad. Which leads me to wonder [WHAT] was on the other side of that hill that a [FACTORY SUSPENSION] could not absorb and would cause a #2 rider to plant themselves so. Was it rider or was it bike.

Bottom line don't get hurt and don't hurt others. And can I hear a hallelujah for #75 for stopping to check on #800.

I agree with you. Kudos to #75 for turning around and coming back. He was in last place and had nothing to lose but the fact he turned around and came back needs to be recognized.

Funny things can happen when you are going that pace. Remeber RC over Leach's lump a couple years back?

Was it just me, or was that flagger totally oblivious? Looked like he was actually waving riders toward Alessi's side of the track! I'll never complain about the local volunteers again.

Glad to see Mike's doing okay.

No, it wasn't you. Dude was ... enough said, saw the same yesterday at local event. Maybe racers aught to be forced to flag, might give'em some perspective and we'd get (hopefully) concerned and thoughtful flagging.

Moving the bike from in front of him (#800) kinda freaked me out, the bike (even though down) was his only physical protection (shield). Yellow flags are ok and necessary but in extremes give me a bike. I've tucked in behind a/my bike on many occasions praying nobody would hit me. They've taken whacks and I've paid for parts but so far I've been pretty lucky. As a matter of fact I can't think of a time when "Duck-and-Cover" ended up worse than the other way round, a full head on (hit me I'm here) exposure.

Me, I made my decision years ago when I got my first screw set (tibia-upper-plateau) .. at that time I swore the bike will always sacrifice itself for me and I will never save a machine over a human being, or any part there of.

I respect my machines, I maintain them, I fix them, I repair them. I have plenty of spare parts for them. I ask only one thing, that when asked they give up their life for me.

I've asked and it's been close but todate none have expired.
