AX racing at Monroe WA was a blast today (Dec 27th 2009) with beginners doing what they do – provide entertainment, ints looking every bit int meaning ready to move-up a level and JR’s being well stuck somewhere in the middle in that “I aint-quite-an-int-nore-am-I-a-beginner (exception: some peeps never attain the JR-lost-in-purgatory- level and so are permanently assigned to da rank of BEGINNER!. Op.Ed. If yer 40+ you-aint-no-beginner)
When I pulled into the Monroe Fairgrounds parking lot today temps were in today’s vernacular “underwater” meaning below freezing 29F. This at 9:50AM. By midday temps were back up into a balmy 40’s something heat wave. Normally starting a bike in such extremes would be tough but not so for the mass-centralized-flick-like-a-butter-fly-sting-like-a-bee-red-wonder machine. No way! One-two-three kicks and it’s got heat-in-da-burner fast warm-up on.
Not so for our own #68 who, by the time I showed, was worn out kicking his 07 normally carbureted beast. Old-peep-to-new-peep “Dude it’s 29F and you got a carburetor w/accleater-pump. Tip-bike-to left side twice then pump-throttle 15x and kick. If she whimpers pump 5x more and kick. If she whimpers again pump 4x more and kick".
It’s all about air-fuel ratios. Cold days are a bitch when it comes to these I said as I walked away. Brapp, Brapp, brapp, whapppp! She talks! Sometimes ole guys know something, sometimes (smiles). Burp-Fart-Belch-Cough-Spit..(laughing) I got my own starting routine. Is that starter fluid I smell (ahhhhh).
When I left the Monroe Fair grounds today I was happy and fulfilled I drove 1hr 5min from there to home in total contentment. NW peeps are looking good and getting better than ever with a hat's of to the Jurins' (ints) and those heading to Europe for the big-show and even more of our own locals heading south to LA for A1 etc.
It's evening Dec 27 2009 and I've just returned from Monroe WA and I'm happy. Thank you all. Thank you riders it's been a hell-of-a-year, and thank you pro's for a full year of amazing performance and thank-you sponsors because you ask so little. Dang has been a good 2009, it has. For you pros Shiffmans was amazing (eat well, might I suggest a most magnificent "Toasted Jalapeno, Onion and Olive Steak & Cheese topped with Chipotle sauce sandwich") before such a ride? (grins)
Lee’s 2009 AX series has been everything I wanted it to be. In the beginning I was hoping Lee could garner enough sponsors to put such an event on and then I hoped enough riders would show as to make it a-business-feasible-venture for 2010 and then I hoped we would inspire a new crop of Nat riders.
To all the above I think and hope and pray (happy-smiles) Yep.
Lee may have.

Its hard to get a full turnout on Fridays so we just came up with a few classes that will fill up. If we ran all the classes we would have alot of them with only 1 or 2 riders. Saturday will have everything.

Me too Collin, me too. I have no doubt about what's coming. Work hard, listen to yer parents and keep doing-what-ever-yer-trainer is asking. It's working but more than that you're unique whoop technique is a hoot and working. Wahoo! Ask yer trainer about wrist position though, it's the next-step ---- small I know but ask. It's a Geometry thing. Good luck ... let's talk.
