It was hot at Monroe Saturday night even though the thermometer read 38F. AX racing in the NW is on.

Racing was tight and for the most part safe. Crater #153 went down in the first 125 pro race. He was gaining on Anstett then slipped attempting a dive under, did the knee tweak thing. His follow up race was heroic and nary a whimper from the man. From a poor start he moved through the pack to finish mid way. What was most impressive with this ride was how he hardly ever moved his feet from the pegs. Jumps, turns, passes his feet were stuck like glue to’em. It's been since DeCoster days that I've seen anybody ride that way. It was a stand-up race in every sense of the word. His last race of the night.

Lee laid out a four lane track with table to triple, two sets of whoops (stacked end to end) each with its own rhythm, a jump section and a long straight. Each lane had a major section. As always the pros made things look easy but even at that it wasn’t a cake walk. Pro turnout was good about nine with Alboucq and Anstett making good impressions. Kenny Webster was smoking in his second 250 race, basically making up for going down in his first. He pretty much waxed the field with only Anstett and Lockhart (yup the dude) to challenge. Dan Moore (TBT) continues to amaze with his speed and ability as he consistently runs in the top three or four. It was in the whoops that things got interesting. Webster and Crater had’em down with Lochart and Anstett a close second. This is normally where one would say something about suspension but those guys wheels never moved they just sailed across the tops of'em. For the lesser classes the whoops proved a challenge with many a foot coming off a peg. Whoops were perfect Lee.

It was supposed to be cold last night but somehow it didn’t seem that way. I stopped by Friday morning and it was chilly but not bad. EW was holding one of his classes and handing out boxed lunches. All I ever got was a yelling-at and made to do pushups. I stopped by later that day for Friday night practice. When I left it was around 8:45 and 29F. When I left Saturday night about the same time it was in the upper 30's. It should have been cold but somehow didn't seem so very.

Lees track layout made for a good show, the stands had plenty of people and I heard many oohs and aahs from the crowd. Dominos Pizza boxes were everywhere and word is that rad_mxer317 even a Subway wait'n tucked away somewhere. Pretty cool day.

Saturday night 24 Nov 2007, a day at the races

How old man friendly are the arenacross tracks. After my little incident at RMC I'm scared of arenacross.
