Spent the day at Ward Creek. Weather was fine NW wise meaning cloudy with temps in the 60s'. Perfect MX weather.

Here in Gods own North Bend country it was raining all day Saturday (one day prior to my Creek visit) and had me wondering if Mud-N-Slime riding was worth it. Twas worth.

No rain all day at Ward Creek (Sunday Aug 08, 2010) and we had a hoot of fun. Track was well prepped with freshly ground dirt in morn only to turn to technical stuff by days end but that's why they make screwdrivers and Suspension settings then isn't it. Twisted -n-turned mine. I was in heaven. Plenty of grass mowing going on at the Creek.

For those who may not be familiar with Ward Creek it's located just east of Raymond WA which is just off the Pacific Ocean. Out there in Gods other country it's been raining and a bit and a tad down on temps so it's Green-Green-Green over there at the Creek.

It's been a while since I visited Ward Creek last and am glad to say we are re-acquainted once again. I started riding it as I recall in the early 1980s and then I stopped riding altogether when I swore off MX in the 90s. But something kicked in and brought me back and the Creek called - Wahoo. I'm back riding the Creek with good buds and gals and having more fun than ever.

Good to see yall again and Aaron why you gotta go and pass me exactly-in-the-same-spot-n-in-the-same-way-as-last-year. Uphill on-the-gas-big-huck. Only diff this year was I was on me own Red Monster Machine. I looked over my shoulder (left) at someone coming on strong so gave way but had I known it was you I think I'da had a extra 20' of distance jumping in me. Coulda happened, maybe (grins) ok NOT. Dude your were looking good making the big leap.

Good seeing everyone again.

I will tell you what Ken, I had an awesome time there today.

The last couple times I have been there the crowds have been really light, and you get so much riding.

I thought I would be a little tired after riding all day at Mt. View on Saturday, but it just felt like I was warmed up! As for the track, well I liked it, hadn't seen it loamy (Ever) and it was a nice change. A good group of fast guys in the vet class to run with also made for a great time. Loved my EVO suspension on top of my Michelin Starcrosses too!

Great time, good to see you.

Aaron.

Crowd was medium I'd say not big-not-small. As a rider I thought it was just-right. As a business I'da hoped for more. The Creek only runs a few practice days a year AND for the most part the track hasn't changed much. That last part is important to us ole-time-folks.

Not going radical in track design is important to this ole-timer cause in spite of "change-is-good" doctrine I'm more for progression-is-better.

The Creek, my opinion, is about progression - call it evolutionary if you will, a tradition. It is well-n-sure-enough a MX haven from which one can establish one - a tradition.

Red Monster Machines, Subway's most delicious "Toasted Jalapeno, Onion and Olive Steak & Cheese topped with Chipotle sauce sandwich", Good friends, Hard Workouts, and my own admiration of jobs well done. It's all there at "The Creek".

The Creek is "The Creek" Wahoo!

We decided on taking the chance on Ward Creek as well, considering the weather. We were pleasantly surprised. What an awesome day with a great group of riders. Was fun to see Canadian friends who made their way there for the first time. A good workout for parents as we try to keep pace up on the hill with our riders!
I, personally, look forward to the Ward Creek concession stand....

"I, personally, look forward to the Ward Creek concession stand...."

I hear ya twistymotogirl I look forward to local concession stands too. Sorta adds that whole end-of-day-stick-to-yer-ribs-in-da-gut-good-feeling don't it? Burnt Ridge for its own and the Ridge for same. Love Washougal come National time cause nutt'n better that EVERY THING THEY GOT! WAHOO!

Saw plenty of good MXers passing my pits (I was parked at track-entrance) chomp'n down on something that looked like a #10 foil-sweet-smelling-look'n-good-had-to-be-best-tast'n-sauce-top'n-burger this ole man coulda-woulda-shoulda had. ARGH!

MORE ARGH! - it was a good day at Burnt Ridge fer sure, concession stand and all. Me, I picked up a coffee at days end cause that's about all I could have. The sweet smell of of a good days ride was well enough for me.

Anybody believe that and ..well...ARGH! I still got 20' more in these ole legs!

Big Grins KW
