I went to watch some of the racing Sunday. There were only about 30 racers. Some things I noted:
Cost, $10 for gate and $35 to race one class and $65 for two. I think this is tooo much and will hold a lot of folks back. Considering Riverdale is $25/$45. Burnt Ridge is $25 a class. P.R.O. races are $30 a class. Several folks there commented on lack of organization. Web site had no times or costs for this event, or any races other than Fridays, and costs for either series is no where to be found. I realize this is still young but if you scare away folks in the early stages they will not come back. The track looked like it held up pretty good considering all the rain. Just my 2 cents worth. ------------------------------------ LIFE IS NOT MEASURED BY THE NUMBER OF BREATHS YOU TAKE, BUT BY THE MOMENTS THAT TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY |

You concerns are duley noted........
The FZA web site is experiencing technical diffeculties with it's webmaster. I'll try to post info here as soon as I get it. I agree with the cost, and will talk to Bob. I think the racers shouldn't pay the gate fee, either. It looks like the racing will be now be EVERY Friday night, with the exception on this friday the 13th as there was already a practice scheduled to co-incide with Bob's Quad only event this weekend. I believe practice on Friday, is still Bikes & Quads, though. And there will not be any riding the weekend of the NHRA Nationals. Today's race was posted on the FZA website. http://www.fantomzatv.com/mxpacific/2008schedule/PR%20TENTATIVE%20SCH2008.htm "PRDS" means Pacific Raceway Day Series and is spelled out at the bottom of the page. Flyers were also handed out at practice. I agree there is a severe lack of organization. Today was partially because of the low turn out, a lot of people were sent home. However, the people that did come and stayed, got extra ride time for their efforts. I can assure you that as far as scoring and sign up, it will get better. It runs pretty good at his NWQN events, and the same people are doing it. There is some confusion on the classes. They are a little different than the ATV classes. Bob worked with Garrett to work out some classes that would work with a new series, add quad classes but still keep it a relitively short day. Any input about the classes, from the racers is appreciated. My 2 cents are that Bob should forget about a Sat. or Sun. race series, and just concentrate on the Friday night series, and have practice on the weekends. |

Yes it was posted but there were no times or costs. I also agree that it may be better to concentrate on Friday nights. There are a lot more established series going on during the weekends. I'll be there wed and friday for practice ------------------------------------ LIFE IS NOT MEASURED BY THE NUMBER OF BREATHS YOU TAKE, BUT BY THE MOMENTS THAT TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY |

BTW...... How many places do you go to race, and pay a gate fee as well as an entry fee?
For me..... Everywhere we race, we get nailed at the gate & sign up. |

I didn't go today because there was no times listed on the website. Wasn't sure if there was even a race going on. Didn't want to risk driving out there and have no race.

Yes, everywhere has a gate fee and they are all $10. I don't mind that as long as the race fees aren't too high. I mean I use the porta cans like the spectators and dump garbage also. Someones gotta pay for those. ------------------------------------ LIFE IS NOT MEASURED BY THE NUMBER OF BREATHS YOU TAKE, BUT BY THE MOMENTS THAT TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY |

I agree that the costs are kind of high for race day, especially when you can hit a day of practice and ride 'till your arms fall off for $30. I'll try to work on him about the cost, but also consider that Bob bought a new Bobcat and dozer just for the track, and he brought out 2 other tractors and a little dozer all in an effort to make the track better. They also hung more lights and have people at the track all week working on it, so we my have to suck up the $35 to race.
And to be honest, you would spend more than $20 in gas to go to Riverdale, anyway. Except for the Pee-wee parents with 2-3 kids riding a couple classes each along with the parent. How about a "discounted family plan"? |

If I bring my cat does that qualify as a family? It didn't work with the IRS !!

Shhhhhhhhhhh. If Bob finds out, he may charge for animals too. |

What was the pee-wee action like on Sunday? We had every intention of hitting all the Friday night races this year but the rain on Fri coupled with the R/C track.

Hey I actually did bring my cat to SIR many years ago; so it is possible. At least it was back then, who knows maybe you would be charged these days???

On the weekends, the Pee-Wee's take the "Friday" cut on the big track. It's still long enough to give the parents plenty of excersize. Now that the start is moved, as soon as it dry's out a little, they can enlarge the mini track. Reed want's it bigger for the Pit bikes, also. |

So i been thinking about coming down with my son and racing on a friday night. There is no way im paying 65.00 + a gate fee to race 2 classes.I might come down and race one class with the boy not 2 and for that price it would be a one time deal. We do the thursday night Hannegan raceway series in bellingham. At Hannegans its $20.00 for 1 class,$10 for a second class and a $10 gate fee.Granted thats 1 moto and 1 practice per class. Is p.i.r. a 2 moto set up?????If it is then that might be diffrent.I was under the impression it was a 1 moto deal.So $120 to race plus about $40 for gas will not attract me for a 1 1/2 hr drive from were i live. When i can drive 45min for $70 to race and $30 gas. I guess what im getting at is you wont attract many riders from over an hour away for that.Maybe offer up a special price or free Tshirt for the people that can prove there more than 60 miles away. I bought a trailer once and the guy gave me $50 off for coming from more than 70 miles.I know at hannegans at the 1st race they gave out free t-shirts to the 1st 300 riders. Call me spoiled i guess,or call me whatever you want. Thats my .03 cents worth and that is what it would take to get me there on a consistant basis.

I hope they make the Pee-wee track bigger and wider. Track was way too small. My kid didn't even want to ride it after 5 minutes. But sounds like they are making it bigger. |

You do get 2 motos and practice. If you get there early, you get more practice.
|
|||
|
|
|
thats not too bad then i guess.I dont see how you can fit 2 motos in thou on a week night.Hannegans runs up to dark with just one moto.Maybe drop the 2nd race by $5 or drop the gate fee.You guys will be right in there

Pacific Raceway has lot's of lighting and can run until 11.

With a family of 4, I can go to a Thursday night race at PIR for $120.00. ($8.00 Gate fee and $22.00 per class) They have bathrooms, concessions, bleachers and an annoucer. The facility is great, the track is well maintained and races run like clockwork.
Pacific Raceways will cost me $180.00 a night. I understand the track is much improved (thanks Lance) but is it really $60.00 a night better than PIR? |
