just wondering why people dont come to pacfic to practice or race? is it cost, the track layout,no espresso machine, the promoter, atv's,better pro purse, better prep, just doing something else, too watered or too rocky, medics, or too far to drive. i am just curious what it would take to get people out to pacfic again like the early to later 90's. friday night series was one of the best times i have had at a race track, there was usual 200-300 riders every friday,i went to the race today and there was about 60 people, so this is why i am posting this.i dont care who is running the track just as long as they listen to the riders needs, so hopefully if you post something the promotor will listen

I think folks are coming to practices, at least the last times I've been there. They do, however need to lower the race fees. I've written on this before but 35 bucks + 10 bucks gate is waay to much money for 12 laps of track time. Perhaps if they ran 20 minute motos it may be OK. Lastly, they need to promote the events, flyers, mailings etc. No one ever knows about the races.

I was wondering the same thing........

Paul is correct, advertising sucks, and to announce a series 7 days before it starts, well, what can you expect.
I did notice that we got more laps this time. (insert breathing hard).

I also noticed that the fees are a little high, but are close to what everyone else charges, except Hannegan on a Thursday where you get 1 moto.

The pro class was dropped to five bucks, and the minis are $25.

I agree with 061 a little but then again it's not much different than anywhere else you go to race. A lot of us paid a lot more for topgun (granted it is at an epic location) for far less seat time ($90 entry/class plus $30 gate plus camping...) and you only ran 1 moto a day.

If you want seat time, don't race.

I only race on occasion because of the $$$ vs. seat time. I'd much rather get a stone spray sandwich from my buddies on a practice day than a complete stranger feeding me one... I guess this doesn't explain why not many people come on practice days either... unfortunatly, I like it that way (low turn out) but i feel for the promotors trying to make it work...

Fantom Z is doing a good job getting the track ready and offering plenty of opportunities for us to ride... some days are better than others but I've found that to be the case with just about every track that is open a lot(except shougal)... FZ is constantly adding and changing the track as well as investing in it.

I was very skeptical at first but frankly, I am not sure why peeps are not getting behind this... its good!

Well put.

I couldnt agree more with your statement about "if you want seat time, don't race." I like to actually be tired at the end of the day, not sleepy, but physically tired. This was the biggest reason I quit racing.

As for Pacific, I raced the Friday Night Series for several years, and loved it. Everyone I spoke with talked smack about it, and I had a ball. The same seems to be true for Horn. That place can't catch a break. People just love to hate them I guess.

I applaud Pacific, and I got to check it our for the MX for Children ride last month. It was great. As for the stone spray sammich, it tore the crap out of my pretty little kawy, but hey, thats what its all about right?

For me,the races aren't just about seat time, although it is a factor. The races are about talking smack with friends, having fun and the whole "show" of the race. I think Pacific would do good to have an announcer, set up some music. The biggest thing though is promotion.

I agree........ They did have some flyers/posters out at sign up. If everyone were to grab a few, and hang them up in your local bike shop, or hang out, it would help. To really get this thing rolling, it will take a little effort from EVERYONE who cares. Don't leave it up to the promoter to spread the word.

I'm not saying this is the "correct" way to advertise the events, but it's what we (as racers/riders) will have to do to get the ball rolling.
If there are ton's of people going to the races and practice, it will be easier to get the prices lowered, to keep people comming back.

Having the flyers at the 1st race of an event isn't very effective (as we could tell by the turn out)... planning, plannning, planning.

I think the promoter might just have to shoot for the low profit margin (break even +) to get people to start coming into the gate for races and enjoying the place, then as with everything, start adjusting the prices. You won't get the following if people are discouraged before they come into the gate. I'm not a promotor and don't really know what all goes into it but I do know a lot of people are discouraged about the price (of everything). If the word got out about the races and the price tag wasn't as hard to swallow at first more people would come.

something like
-$30 1st class+
-$20 second class +
-No gate to get people in and buying more "bob dogs and/or T shirts, ect"
-also if you race 2 classes you should get 2 practices...i.e hand out practice tickets

Not much of a difference but $50 is a lot easier to swallow than $70

Also, this site is a good start for promoting but there are not many riders who know about it or use it... I think the promoter needs to go around to all the local shops, get a contact with them (maybe grease them a little with a free practice or 2) and then all you have to do is email them the flyers and they can put them up. seems easy enough...

Hey Adam and I went down for Sundays race and had a great time. The people that run the place seem to be getting it together, more friendly, easy to talk to etc. They post results pretty fast also.Hot dogs are cool, but what happened to the food guy? T shirts I did not see any for sale. They had stickers for free, but said ATV on them. Kind of like promoting ATVs more than bikes.5 riders in 250 C Adam got a 3rd 1st moto than a 1st 2nd moto 2nd overall they only gave out 1st place trophy seems maybe even with lite turn out they still could have gave down to 3rd just for good will. Overall we have a good time and don't have to spend a lot for gas!!!

I've worked there, and I can understand why some of the prices are so high.

They need a bigger turnout!!! I bet they're barely breaking even with the numbers they have now.

If things stay the way they're, I don't think we'll have SIR much longer.

Everyone should spread the word that SIR is back, and if you feel that something needs to be changed, just walk up to Drew/Reed at the track and give them some input. Even tell me I'll relay the info to them.

I think a big thing that gets over looked is the track layout. not just at SIR but a lot of other tracks too. If the track is boring or is stale then the visits will be cut down. I've been over that way a few times over the years and haven't been super impressed with the track itself.

see thats the the #1 problem with SIR .... its got a bad rap and like i was talking to someone this weeekend they asked if i have been riding i told them at SIR and i got laughed and i responded have you been there in the last 6 months?? the answer was no... i told them all about it ....

the way i see it the owner/promoter need to get out there and sell there track to masses that place could be a gold mine ... but no one knows about it... it was word of mouth and this site is how i found out about it ....

he should see if could buy someones mailing list or they should have one from the older promoter and mass mail flyer and get the word out ...if promoted right people will come... plus its the only place to ride and race in the seattle area

...hey drew did you know its been all reworked with a new layout?????

It's still SIR but it flows a whole lot better. The jumps are pretty safe and nothing to technical. There are a lot of options in the corners and its fun. Way better than last year (or the previous 3-5yrs). When they groom it (which is quite often)... it is really good!!!

Call before you haul and give it a shot. Plan to get there when they open (10am)...

So i went there for the Childrens hospital mx ride and it was awesome. However I went back maybe the next weekend or the weekend after on a Saturday right when gates opened and it sucked. Little or no water. Not groomed. That was pretty disapointing and bad enough I dont know if I want to risk traveling there again for the same type of conditions. Now if there was a # I could call in the morning to find out for sure it was groomed I would go for sure.
