Can anyone help find a team that Ray can ride on. The PRO website says the junior class is full? Please help, we have been preparing for this event for a long time.

There is the unl jr and the 450 jr to consider if the 250f class is full or he could ride the college boy class on a 125 to 450 if he's in that age bracket.
If you don't have a team to ride for, check out the list of teams available and email somebody. You can show up and ask to be put on a team when you get down there too. |

As Traxtor said, he could ride those classes, and he could ride for EWMxschools.com, we only have 3 riders.

I feel a little confused, how can the 250c class be full if there are teams that still only have three riders sighned up. Hey is there room with you guys on that team for one more +40?

I don't think it's a team full thing so much as 2 full gates ,80 riders and they only want to run two qualifiers. According to the rules on the p.R.O. site Ray could also run 450 Jr on a 250F but I would call first. I haven't counted the +40 but we have room on the EW team, come on down. I'll be leaving around noon today to head down there, I'll have the hillbilly hotel and Sharkey's and I are planning on camping in the pro pit area.

Why is there such a bottleneck in the Junior Class?
Seems like it is 30% beginners, 60% Juniors, and 10% Int/Pros People need to move up.... they should base it on lap times or something. Yeah, I ride the Junior class whenever I can manage to race but that is only because I don't even come close to winning because no one wants to move up to Int. Plus I've put a whopping 13 hours on my bike since last October so I'm not exactly trying to better myself or anything. |

It is going to be a long hard fight to the top of the jr. class that is for sure, I just hope the rules don't change when we get there.

Na Palm, Dan the AMA ref bumped a bunch of (unhappy) riders early this year. There is a glut of "junior" and even more "beginner" riders. I'm 48 but raced (off and on)since 1976. Yet at this age I don't risk my bones and well paying job to aggressively race. It's all about fun and family and I'm sure that there are a lot of us who "race" that way. My son Justin got bumped to intermediate his first year back and really wasn't happy cause he wanted to feel "prepared for it". Meanwhile back when he was on an 80 he ran in the pack of Greg Crater, Kevin Urqhart,Kenny Webster, Kiel Krogstad, etc. while pulling off wins as well. Honestly, confidence in yourself has a lot to do with where you are and then there are the true sand baggers that will stick back for that chunk of plastic we all for some egotistical reason love to bring home with us.

Yeah, I just like to have people to ride with if I'm going to race. In order to do that I have to run the Junior class because if I rode Int. I would be all alone after 3/4 of a lap and that isn't a fun way to go racing.
I don't feel that I'm really a Junior level rider but that is where I seem to fit in so I guess if you can't beat them you might as well join them.... Looking forward to turning 30 in 2011 so I can race 30+ classes since most of those guys are just doing it for the thrill like I do. |

B Anderson I hear ya and Nate I hear ya too but dang it's tough these days. Today's riders are better plain and simple. The newbees are faster and better than ever and they got the skills. OK, lacking a bit of wisdom and common sense fer sure but they do have speed. It's the lack of experience that puts ole folks in the drivers seat as these young'ns race around. It's ok to be fast but if in doing so one affronts or offends then there's a problem. Just look at JLaw and almost Hill. It's up to the old class to make sure the new class understands. Understands that old lessons are not always bad and that old and new can be combined.
In the end and at the best-of-the-best (Top Gun) can the new adapt lessons of the old and raise the bar higher. |
