A little bit of my childhood died today also.

Mine too...actually got to meet him at the Puyallup Elks when I was around 10 yrs old. My mother worked in the office and he was in there talking to employees and my mother had me come in before the show and meet/shake hands with JP. RIP JP!!

On his show, Gertrude would tweak his nose and it would honk. When I was about 9 or so, I met him and tried to honk his nose also. I got in trouble for that
