What you opinion of a Muckleshoot MX track?
I live on the Muckleshoot Indian rez and my wife and her family are tribal.

We are trying to convince the tribe that a MX practice track would be a good thing to invest in. Also for it to be something that would be a benifit to the tribal members and the surrounding community.
What I was wondering what your opinions on somthing like this are. Sound would be a major concern so limiting the noise would be a concern ie would you run a quiet muffler or a DB dog type device. It would need to be able to be open to kids and beginners. So the track would not be able a just big bike track. The main thing we are trying to do is give all of us that don't have access to a private track someplace to ride and show that this is a family sport.

Give me a little feed back on your opinions on something like this it isn't something that will happen overnight and there is no promise of it happening but the more we show that it can work and not just be a problem for the tribe the more likely it is to happen

I like the idea. Maybe it would be easier for someone to operate it if they only had to deal with tribal counsel. Regulations seem to kill most other tracks and our state makes operating a track a impossible. Good luck!

Is it the state or the county/city. Most shut down seem to be the result of responces to complaints to the city?

I'm in Hutchracer,

If the Muckelshoot's wanted to put in a track this rider certainly wouldn't mind it.

Why not ask Ted Devol to help you speak in front of them. He knows the numbers as good if not better then anyone and is 10 minutes from Muckelshoot. I know Ted has tried to talk to them in the past, but they would not listen becuase he was not of tribal decent. So if you could pull this off Hutchracer you would be a Hero in the MX community and RockStar when it comes to my pocket book since I wont have to spend so much on gas to get the tracks. Smile

Yes I am an new member of SMC me and Ray have been talking to you over the last couple of meetings. I also talked to Ted Devol about it since he is close and he said about the samething. I am working with my wife on trying to get more info on how we can make this work. We are kind of trying to figure out where the tribe has land that would work for a project like this and how to take the proper next steps within the tribe. I am hopping to convince them that 15-25 acres would work to get it started. Like I said before it has to be a track that would be safe for all skill levels.

When I was a kid, we used to ride at a place next to the stuck river that I always thought was muckleshoot land. Some of you might remember the sand track down past the icon Used to be segale pit then past the horse farm... Just a thought.

Is the track open yet? When can we ride?

Man I grew up by the 7-11 and we would push or try to ride our bikes down there when we were kids but the old YZ60 was always fun to ride down there in the sand and on the trails.

The land down at the stuck river is tribal land but I doubt that would be a option due to it being so close to the river and getting the fisheries dept to ok that. I am going to keep trying to look into locations and see what we can come up with. I wish it was something that could be done quick but we know how that goes.

It's ok Hutchracer no worries.

If the tribe could make a few acres of real MX track, just east of Power lines, then for this Duwamish Subway luv'n local it'd all be fine. I don't hold out much hope though for all the politics.

Ken you have a good memory of the thats where the good reddish dirt was. In the mid 80s I had a training loop there 17 miles of nasty single track,MX and sand whoops a couple strem crossings and such.Great training on a hot day

Yeah I love the politics of the rez. Im kind of hoping the family members will be open to looking at this and take it for what it could be. We now have 2 family members on the tribal counsil so I keep on dreaming big.
