E.W. #849Racing in Alaska
Every 4th of July week I fly up to Fairbanks Alaska for 3 days of MX school. After long week, I race the Alaska State Race series.
This year I was riding Jerry Lymburners YZF450, settup for him! Our motos were too close to do any bike changes so I made it work. After some tough battles, I ended up winning 4 out 4 motos in the vet pro class.
Heath Hamblen is back on the bike tearing it up! He moved up to Alaska last month. Heath was a top 3 pro rider every moto, with beating Jerry the last moto on Saturday.
Jerry won 13 or 14 pro motos. Hes the man!
Check the pics out of the track at
http://northernhorse.smugmug.c...3zVs#585248350_h3CAoIm on page 14-16, #555. Heath is #49, Jerry is #555.
It was crazy hot up there!! Around 85 degrees with high humidity most day.

http://northernhorse.smugmug.c...4941740_xYocT/Medium This is my fav a 250cc smoker in the foreground, a dual-stacked-quad-lighted-big-rig next back, a dude on a dozer (vested!) at the ready, and a Powder-puff (is that Ashley?) scoop'n out her front suspension...and what's with skinny trees. Is everything skinny in Alaska?

triplenickelIt's cool having EW come up and mix it up with the local guys. The track is flat with lots of jumps and corners, but the dirt is the main reason the track is so good. KW next year?

Northern Horse PhotoThis whole album...we had a fun race day. One race they had to sprint in gear to the finish line and then start their machines and then do 2 laps. One race you had to stay with your partner and not drop your tape. And then a mattress pull timed of course.

Workman #21I'm liking the mattress pull thing, reminds me of growing up in Seattle before it was big-time.

Northern Horse PhotoGlad you like them, it was my favorite race to take pictures of. The mattress pull was so funny I missed a lot of pictures.

Yep the rider is not Heath, at least not the same one putting laps on my most magnificent 08 CRF450R at Pacific Raceways a couple years ago.
Heath's always had style:
Style:
a reference to an once famous now obscure comedian known as "Gallagher" who often used the term - "Ya gotta have STYLE!" in his comic act. For me anybody swinging a leg over a MX machine got it in spades, I just wish I had some.
So, salute to all you MXer's types who got it. If ya aintthen maybe ya outta be looking around the next berm, jump, or whoop for your piece. Maybe one of those pro type dudes "J" or "H" droped a chunk on the track, something the rest of us might pickup on. Could happen.
Eat well enjoy the the holidays. I know I will. Thought I'd of this year by listening to Christmas music starting today.
"Genome Project" Pandora. "Silent Night" Radio is my choice. It's to my ears what a "Toasted Jalapeno, Onion and Olive Steak & Cheese topped with Chipotle sauce sandwich" is to my palate. You gotta choose yer own mix.
