Getting rid of the unlimited class
As Parker said, when you can run 250Fs and 250 two strokes in the Schoolboy class, you're killing the 125s. It seemed that there were at least 20 kids on 125s last weekend lined up for Schoolboy, but they ended up racing Unlimited Frown There are so many 125s in the South and East that they routinely have split gates. What gives???

250 2-strokes are not allowed in the schoolboy for the Devol series

My mistake, they were at Top Gun last season and I didn't look that close last weekend.

I had an epiphany lastnight while laying in bed. Why dont we do like a lot of other regions around the country and drop the D class?

we keep the unlimited motos but just have A, B, and C classes. This would combine the C,D classes, and promoter/sanctioning body bumps the top 10 in the Jr. class to intermediate. this would get bigger gates, and shorten up the day with out limiting people with 450s classes to ride.

Then with the shorter day we can add classes like 125/250 2 stroke, or other fun classes. that way the profit margins won't vary too much for our beloved promoters.

Drew. That would be ok if we had 250 riders or less. It would be dangerous on the tracks we have in the NW because we are more jump infested than a lot of the country. Beginners and Jr's on the same gate would be sketch.

Ted, Thats why you split the "C" class in two, send the slow end of the class back to beginner where they belong, and send the fast end of the class (Which are as fast as the slower B riders anyway) to "B"... Change "D" to "C", and there you go... A clusterf*ck...Big Grin

Justin - this is where the AMA's messed-up amateur system throws a wrench in things. Those C class riders that are chasing Loretta's are not "as fast as the slower B riders" as you said, some of them are as fast as the fastest B riders, but they hang in the C class for as long as they can so they can be competitive nationally (next time you get a chance, watch Moua and Herzog battle it out in the "Junior" class). As long as the self promotion rule is in place for all local races, you will have sandbaggers really fast kids in the C class chasing the dream... Can't blame them, but it sure seems unfair to the true newbies.

Well said. And that is why we have the beginner class.

Not sure what the AMA has to say about it, but many local series say you're out of the D class after 1 year of racing. There's a HUGE difference between a kid who rode one season at a local track and is advanced to C, and a kid who's been hanging in the C class riding regional races for 3 years. What is PRO's rule on D riders, Ted?

You have to have beer and pee breaks, at the half way point.
