Just got an email regarding the DNR's ongoing planning process at Tahuya State Forest and Green Mountain. For those unaware, the DNR is conducting the same process at Tahuya (Belfair) that they did at Reiter. More info is here: http://www.dnr.wa.gov/RecreationEduc...rec_plans.aspx There is an open survey right now that everyone should take: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/greentahuyaplan The DNR has selected their planning committee, and at first glance the list is a bit concerning to me: Quote: In selecting the 12 committee members, we looked for individuals with diverse recreational interests who could roll up their sleeves and commit to the planning process for the next year or so. The Recreation Planning Committee members and their primary recreation interests are: Christine Daniel - hiking, motorcycling, scenic driving, and camping Jim Davis - horseback riding, nature observation, and camping Steve Decoy - hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling, fishing, nature observation, scenic driving, geocaching, and mushroom picking Herb Gerhardt - hiking, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, nature observation, scenic driving, and target shooting John Keates - hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling, hunting, camping and target shooting Dori Leckner - hiking and scenic driving Christopher Lemke - hiking, mountain biking, nature observation, scenic driving and firewood cutting Heidi McCutchen - horseback riding, hiking, atving, scenic driving, and camping Bill McKinney - hiking, and hunting Ken Meidell - hiking, and mountain biking Dennis Ohlde - hiking, hunting, fishing, nature observation, scenic driving, camping, picnicking, target shooting Michael Welander - mountain biking, 4x4ing, hunting, and camping Out of 12 members, only 3 list motorcycling as one of their recreation interests (this despite the fact that well over three quarters of the attendants of the first meeting were dirtbikers, and dirtbikers make up the vast majority of Forest users) In contrast, 10 out of the 12 list hiking as one of their interests. Does anyone know any of these people personally? Can we be reassured that there are actually one or two passionate riders on the committee, or are we totally screwed? We absolutely can NOT afford to lose another inch of trail in Western Washington. Any input or opinions on this would be great. Reply With Quote

I wouldn't think the locals down there would want to give up all the disposable income that is spent there in the summer. If they are even in the loop?
